Working principle:

  • The laser beam emitted by the laser absorbs the contaminated layer on the surface to be treated
  • Absorption of high energy forms a rapidly expanding plasma (highly ionized unstable gas) that generates a shock wave;
  • The shock wave causes the contaminants to be broken up and removed
  • The width of the optical pulse must be short enough to avoid thermal accumulation of the treated surface
